Deck License Study Recommendations

This free information bulletin lists the 24 principal categories of deck licenses available from the Coast Guard, shows the topics tested on each license exam, and tells you where you can find study material that pertains to these topics.  In addition, it discusses the difference between exam topics and exam modules a difference the Coast Guard rarely mentions.  It also provides additional tips you may need in filing a license application with the Coast Guard.

Lower-Level Engineer License Study Recommendations:

This free information bulletin provides general information useful to candidates preparing for the Designated Duty Engineer 1,000/4,000 and unlimited horsepower licenses as well as the Assistant Engineer (limited) and Chief Engineer (limited) licenses used on vessels up to 1,600 gross register tons (6,000 tons ITC).  The source of study material for these licenses is contained in MET’s Workboat Engineer textbooks.
